Below is the email that was sent to parents just before school started in August 2018.
Dear Parents,
This year Providence Day School will be implementing a new Mobile Device Management system as part of our One to World iPad Program. This tool will create a baseline set of restrictions that will be grade level specific. Each set of restrictions was constructed in partnership with teachers and school leaders. Parents will be able to add additional restrictions on top of the baseline restrictions.
To get all of our students enrolled in the new Mobile Device Management tool students will need to backup and erase their iPads. The Tech Team will be visiting with the students in grades 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, & 10 during the first week of school to show them the process and provide the instructions. Once the student iPads are enrolled, the students will have access to the Providence Day Self Service Catalog where they can download the books and apps they need. Students under 13 will still need approval via Family Sharing to download apps.
You can visit our new site pdsipad.org to learn more about the specific restrictions for each grade level as well as find valuable resources related to instructions for enrolling in the ChargerMDM, digital citizenship, backing up the iPad, Family Sharing with Apple IDs, and setting parental controls. As always, please feel free to call the Help Desk at 704-887-7030 or email any Tech Team member for assistance.
Please note that while we believe this tool will be a wonderful technical addition, it will only be a supplement to the non-technical solutions like conversations about iPad usage, monitoring student use of the iPad, and clear family expectations. This blend of technical and non-technical solutions will enable us to provide the structure and support our students need to develop into healthy, successful digital citizens.
Sincerely
Matt Scully

Dear Students,

To get enrolled in the new Mobile Device Management tool, you will need to backup and erase your iPad. The Tech Team will be visiting English classes during the first week of school to show you the process and provide instructions. Once your iPad is enrolled, you will have access to the PDS Self Service Catalog where you can download the books and apps you need.
You can visit our new site pdsipad.org to learn more about this new tool as well as find other resources related to your iPad.
Please note that this tool will not be used to track internet history, but it can be used to lock iPads and track lost iPads. Location discovery will always display a message on the screen when it is used. Please follow these steps prior to September 8th to avoid losing your wifi connection.
We are adding the Mobile Device Management tool to increase the structure and support we believe are necessary to help you become healthy and successful digital citizens.
Sincerely,
Matt Scully
